Show #115 – June 21, 2009

Getting back to a “normal” show this week. But really, when it comes to the Muppets, is anything normal?

Happy birthday to Sesame Street’s Bob McGrath! Bob plays, well, “Bob” on Sesame Street, and has done so for the entire run of the show. Bob’s birthday was June 13, and this week we Celebrate Bob’s Birthday in a special way!

Lots of great listener feedback and Muppet news. For instance, Stuart Reeves is working on a fantastic 3D Muppet piece and has decided to share parts of the work in progress with the world! These pics are extremely impressive. Check out Waldorf, Dr. Teeth, Swedish Chef, Crazy Harry, Sam Eagle, Fozzie Bear, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Animal.

Darrin G. sent a link to some Little Muppet Monsters episodes. Boy, those take me back! I loved watching those as a youngster.

Matt W. sent the link to a 40-minute puppet film that he and some friends made in his college years. Lots of little nods to Jim Henson and the Muppets. Caution: not appropriate for all audiences, by Matt’s own admission.

Joel from the DPM sent a link to the Muppet cake from last fall. If you’ve never seen this, it’s the most perfect edible Muppet tribute you may ever see!

In Muppetology we celebrate Sal Minella, and all the glorious moments in this flunky monkey’s Muppet career.

Muppet writer Jim Lewis joins a couple dozen of his Boonton, NJ alumni brethren in a local exhibit celebrating Boonton graduates’ success. Jim says there’s just something in the water.

What do you think of Wilkins Coffee? I never tasted it. BOOM. Now what do you think of Wilkins?

If Abby Cadabby thought she could take the summer off, I guess she was wrong.
