Show #3 – April 26, 2007

Hello again! This show definitely shows how we’re coming along in shaping a well-formed podcast loaded with great Muppet content. We’ve got just a little bit of news, some wonderful listener email, a Muppet History segment, and as advertised, the brand-new super secret segment makes its appearance!

The MuppetCast forum is now up and running at muppetcast.com/forum! General show news, as well as episode-specific comments can be found there, so check it out!

Movin’ right along, The MuppetCast has been added to the Disney Podcast Directory this week. Click over to their website when you’re done listening to this week’s show to find even more great podcasts to add to your listening enjoyment! Reading through listener email this week reveals some information about the upcoming touring exhibit “Jim Henson’s Fantastic World”. We also get to hear a great Muppet geek story from a guy who had Kermit & Miss Piggy as his wedding cake topper, and has a Kermit tattoo! The last email contains a great question that not only mentions the Dark Crystal (woohoo!), but asks a really great question that leads us to discuss the Land of Gorch in the Muppet History segment. I wish I had a Gorch sound clip, but I couldn’t find a DVD of SNL Season One in time. D’oh!

Not much happening in the news this week. Voting is still open for Statler & Waldorf: From the Balcony, and will conclude on May 1. So go vote!! Also, ToughPigs.com’s Muppet Fan Extravaganza will be appearing soon, so remember that the submissions deadline is April 30.

Our first contest is coming soon! It will be a Muppet impression contest. Get your impressions ready! Also coming next week is the new Muppet Website of the Week. Send me submissions for featured Muppet/Henson websites!

More great Muppet music this week, from the Muppets Take Manhattan and Fraggle Rock.

And…the new segment! Just gonna have to listen for it.

That’s the show! Thanks for all the feedback folks, both email and voicemail. Keep ’em coming!

    Hi Steve,

Nice concept for a podcast, however the problem I have with it is that your listeners are Muppet fans, most of whom have all read the news already from other sites. The news you put on the site is very repetitive for people who already read it. Since the Muppets aren’t working much, make a show about it. What pisses you off about what they’re doing now? What do you like about it? Should they be kept in the past? What’s wrong with the approach today? Make an opinion. Make connections to insdier people, etc. This podcast will get bigger wih the more new information you have.

  3. […] The MuppetCast is running a Muppet Impression Contest! Record your voice using your computer (voicemail submissions are strongly discouraged), and email the sound file to: me@muppetcast.com. Be sure to include your name and the character you are impersonating! […]

You want to know how good your rendition of “Follow Me” was to me? I saved it on my iPod!
