Show #126 – September 9, 2009

Quite the lineup for this week’s show. Counting 1, 2, 3…4! Four special guests, ah, ah, ah! They include Peter Bell from Bell, Book & Comic (celebrating their 6th anniversary this weekend!), KermiClown aka David S. from Florida, Ryan and Joe from ToughPigs.com, and author Michael Davis with some great news regarding his book “Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street“.

Thanks to David Quesal and the David Quesal Puppet Troupe for this week’s show intro.

The MuppetCast is sponsored by Bell, Book & Comic. Life should be more Fun!

No news, history, trivia, etc this week; the show is jam packed full of special guest goodness at 90 minutes! However, there are a few items to note:

The new preschool educational series Dinosaur Train debuts this week on PBS. See the official PBS DT website.

Congratulations to Sesame Street on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Daytime Emmy award ceremony. Sesame Street was nominated in over a dozen categories and won several, including Kevin Clash for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series.

Sesame Street’s new special “Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times” airs this Wednesday Sept 9. The special is directed at all families and help parents and children communicate about the tough econimic times many are experiencing right now.

Thanks for listening! Questions/Comments about the Muppets or The MuppetCast can be emailed to me@muppetcast.com, or called in to the voicemail line at 614-364-4270. Hey Steve! Great show this week!

One correction regarding Bruno the Trashman. Neither of Caroll’s arms are inside either of Bruno’s — rather, they both go into the trash can, so Caroll can perform both Oscar’s head and Oscar’s left hand. And Bruno does speak, on occasion — as far as I can tell, Caroll has a string inside the trash can that he can pull with Oscar’s left hand to make Bruno’s mouth open.

Here’s a great clip of the two of them from “Here Come the Puppets!”

Also, a question: where does that picture of Jim Henson with Piggy and Fozzie come from?

Thanks, Steve. Keep up the good work!

So I was filling through channels and I saw Kermit the From on the VMA’S pre-show. SO I figure I’ll watch, it’s Kermit after all, right? What’s the worst that could happen. While the interview and Kermit was funny, he still sounded like the guy from AGT (America’s Got Talent). As a Muppet fan I am begging to wonder what’s happening?

Why is our beloved frog not sounding like himself?

I meant to say “beginning” and not begging.
