Show #99 – March 1, 2009

We head back to New Jersey this week for “Sesame Street at 40: A Night of Celebration and Discovery with the Legendary Cast.” This was a special event hosted by author Michael Davis and William Paterson University, and featured eight people who played a vital role in the show’s initial and enduring success.

The MuppetCast is sponsored by Bell, Book & Comic. Life should be more fun!

Listener James has a new blog up, and his first posted work is a Muppet tribute! James is very talented, take a look for yourself and see his work on DeviantArt also.

Many years ago, late night host David Letterman had Jack Paar on as a guest, and Paar showed Dave something very surprising. Many people have heard about the famous closet of steam valves which Jim Henson meticulously decorated while he waited backstage on Paar’s show decades ago. Well, a Twitter follower sent a link to the Letterman footage where Paar first reveals this work of art to the world.

From another Twitter follower comes a YouTube link to a piece from Season 5 of The Muppet Show. Birds playing the guitar to “How Much is that Doggie in the Window“.

Ariel sent a link to the University of Maryland (Jim Henson’s Alma Mater), where students can access and view countless hours of Henson’s TV and film projects. Jealous?
